The Network the Farm Uses and the Network It Owns
Not every farm needs to own its network, and not every farm should rely on someone else’s. Connected Farms covers both: a SIM that finds the best available network wherever you are, and infrastructure you can build and own outright where that makes more sense - dense orchard canopy, broadacre scale, or sites with no terrestrial option at all.
Dynamic SIMs
A SIM that isn’t locked to one carrier. It roams across every available mobile network and switches based on live signal strength and availability, inheriting the best of every carrier’s footprint instead of being stuck with one carrier’s black spots. It’s the lowest-friction starting point for any operation - most customers begin here.
FarmHub
A modular edge data centre sited on the farm, typically near the main LoRaWAN gateway. FarmHub is where machine data lands and farm-level compute runs, making the property itself a processing point, not just a source of data waiting to be sent elsewhere. It works alongside AWS, not instead of it, and it’s built for larger and multi-site operations where data volume or latency make cloud-only impractical.
Amazon Leo
Enterprise-grade LEO satellite coverage for the places terrestrial networks will never reach, integrated into the CommsXtend range using a variant of Amazon’s phased array antenna. Selected specifically for uplink performance and AWS-backed security - in agriculture, getting data off the farm is the constraint, not just getting a signal on it.
Best suited to farms and sites with no viable terrestrial coverage, and operations with security or data-sovereignty requirements.
Farm Network Infrastructure
The fixed network the farm owns, built to the site rather than sold off a shelf. Private LTE/5G suits places where satellite underperforms - dense orchard canopy blocking sky view, or where broadacre scale makes ownership cheaper than ongoing rental. Enterprise Wi-Fi extends from the farm office to the yard, with point-to-point links reaching remote sheds.
Industrial-grade LoRaWAN carries farm sensor data, typically gatewayed at or near FarmHub - this is the layer that powers sensor deployments like Smart Silo Bag Sensors.
